During the Salone del Mobile - April 2013 in Milan

I visited the Spazio Orlandi store where Piet Hein Eek

The Dutch designer was presenting some of his latest

pieces. He has to be one of my favorite designers.

My home renovation - On with the kitchen

By removing a line of 'tufo' bricks, the fissure has 

been prepared for the outside section of a concrete 

support beam. A huge hole can then be cut out of 

the wall to house the kitchen's picture window.

These are the first four steps leading to 

the bed loft. This is where I'll sleep in 

winter (so as not to waste money and gas 

on heating up the master bedroom), and 

when friends come to stay.

I'm allowed to revert the small window, 

that you see at the top, to its original size 

which is four times larger.

Now that the ceiling supports have been 

taken down, the height of this room is 

evident once more.

My home renovation - more demolition

Yesterday and today a wall in what will

be the kitchen was half demolished to

make way for the mezzanine floor

with space for a bed and a built-in wardrobe

The chimney-brest is revealed

This is what the new roof terrace looks 

like from underneath.

My home renovation - the metal cages and concrete fill

Yesterday the metal cages were threaded

through around and over the Plastbau

panels...

...and today the concrete has been poured 

over the whole lot. That now needs time 

to set and dry into a solid roof terrace.
